What are tinned copper welding sleeves (Nicopress)?
Tinned copper welding sleeves – often Nicopress sleeves – are high-quality press sleeves for safely and permanently connecting steel wire. They are mainly used in combination with stainless steel wire, because copper does not cause galvanic corrosion in combination with stainless steel.
The sleeve is provided with a central groove, which keeps the steel wire taut and perfectly positioned during pressing.
Why choose copper (tinned) sleeves?
Advantages of tinned copper welding sleeves
- Ideal for stainless steel wire: prevents galvanic corrosion.
- Strong and durable: Copper deforms in a controlled manner during pressing, resulting in an extremely reliable connection.
- Corrosion resistant: The tin plating provides extra protection against moisture and salt.
- Professional finish: very suitable for exposed work, balustrades and architectural steel cables.
- Perfect positioning through groove: prevents the cable from shifting during pressing.
Common applications of Nicopress sleeves
Copper welding sleeves are widely used in sectors where a high-quality cable connection is required:
- Architectural stainless steel cable systems
- Balustrades and fences
- Yachting & maritime applications
- Winch cables and pulling systems
- Playground equipment and climbing materials
- Construction and industrial applications
- Cables for tents, shade sails and design constructions
