P-trap with LangmanRopes 

Piracy off the Somali coast has been a threat to international shipping. Piracy has contributed to an increase in shipping costs and impeded the delivery of food aid shipments.

 

Westmark is for many years working on a system to protect vesels.

 

P-Trap is a very simple and cost-effictive defence against pirates.

It creates a safety zone around the ship where it is vulnarable and keeps unwanted guests at a safe distance.The Royal Navy, the Coastguard and the Royal Netherlands Sea Rescue Institution successfully tested the system.

LangmanRopes developed a special composite rope for the P-trap.

Pirates of the Caribbean 4

LangmanRopes again the supplier for the movie 
Pirates of the Caribbean.

Part 2 and 3 of the movie did we also supply our ropes. We are proud that we may supply our ropes again for this project.

Since September 29th 2009 we have a revolution air rope pre-stretching and coating machine.

With this latest engineered system we give our ropes a extra finish for greater strength, optimized materials, or for special coating and surface properties. 

Typical rope finishing processes include:

  • Coating
  • Dyeing
  • Impregnating
  • Thermal and cold stretching
  • Thermal shrinking 

Our Q1 (HMPE with PU coating) has a extreme breaking load compared with our competitors.

For example our 3mm has a breaking load of 1.414kilo with 0,7% stretch at 50% load.
